Best Restaurants in Mexico City

We were fortunate to spend 1.5 months in Mexico City during our trip around the world and Mexico City had some of our favourite foods! We tried many many places and we believe these are the best restaurants in Mexico City!

Best Restaurants in Mexico City: Cafes

El Pendulo: A bookstore cafe in condesa. Great for a coffee and omlet in their cozy inside tables or adorable patio, you can’t go wrong. Fabulous place to work for a few hours.

Cicatriz: A small little cafe in Juarez. Delicous coffee and in the late afternoon a mean Spritz! There is small menu but the food is fresh and healthy.

Blend Station: This is basically a co-working space. It is a fabulous place to come work for a bit while on vacation. Everyone is on a computer. The coffee is delicious and the atmosphere very cool!

Maque: This place is a great place to come for brunch and sit outside to people watch. Their Conchas are to die for (must get) and we loved their chilaquiles

Quentin Cafe: This is the most adorable coffee shop a must must go. Their coffee is fabulous and the space is unique.

Ojo De Agua: Cute spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Very hip happening with fresh ingredients and sunny young vibe. Great place for fresh, healthy ingredients and meals.

Contramar: (fancy) If there is one place you can’t miss it is Contramar. The seafood is out of this world. Makea reservation at least a week before arriving in CDMX

Pollos Poncho: Tiny roast chicken only place. A few bar stools and some salsas. Have either pieces of roast chicken or tacos or a torta. Simple, fresh and delicious

La Casa Del Pastor: Come here and get two “Tacos Al Pastor” share a guacamole and call it a day :-)

Mercado de carmen - this cute market has various stalls you can pick food from and eat at the common tables. Tons of locals come here and a great place to stop when visiting San Angel

El Cardinal: There are a few locations, and likely all are very good! This is the location we went to. The guacamole is to die for and we loved the quesadillas with zucchini flower

Masala y maiz: A must go for a late lunch. This is a husband and wife duo with the food being mexican with indian twist. It is divine! The space is also spectacular. You Can’t go wrong.

Meroma: One of our favourite dinner spots while in Mexico City. The food is so tasty and the place is beautiful.

Ellys: Tapas style in an adorable place! The food is fantastic and you are bound to have a great night!

Amaya: Wine bar and tapas style restaurant where the food is to die for. The soft shell crab is a MUST! Have a late dinner at Amaya and then hit up Juarez for a fun night.

Loup Bar: A cute little wine bar with tapas style food. The wine is delicious but can be a bit pricey. We’d recommend going by the glass :)

Antolina: A Neighbourhood gem in our opinion. Filled with locals with amazing mexcal and the food is fabulous! Should absolutely be part of your itinerary.
